This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) at the Journey level with a specialty in HVAC.
Fully functioning in a particular trade area.
Perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level.
Perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level.
Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned zone or core maintenance.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalency; Associate's degree from an accredited institution preferred in HVAC or Engineering Technology.
2-4 years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment specializing in chillers/cooling towers.
Experience with maintaining, repair, place, fabricate, install, alter, construct, and design facility components that require the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety.
Experience with performing routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Experience using electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair HVAC units electrical control circuits.
Experience in diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
Knowledge and skills with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
Ability to operate assigned vehicles on and/or off campus.
Ability to have effective verbal communication skills and comprehension, interpretation skills in both reading and writing.
Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
