Detailed Job Description Schedule The schedule for this position could encompass various shifts, weekends, holidays, and times other than normal work schedules. The successful candidate must provide contact information to be used for an on-call phone listing for reporting to work in off hours or urgent situations such as extreme weather conditions including when the campus is closed.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair all electrical infrastructure (including 15,000 volt switches and fuses, and the following 600 volt class equipment; MCC controls, variable speed drive controls, motors, electrical distribution centers, and support Fire Alarm and Fire Protection systems with troubleshooting, repairs, and operations), electrical distribution and branch circuits, and devices (breakers, fuses, and receptacles). Utilize electrical blueprints and drawings. Perform Preventative Maintenance on all of the above.
Train and assist Electrician II/III with troubleshooting and repair of interior lighting issues (lamps, fixtures, switches, networked lighting control systems, dimming controls, automatic light sensors, fluorescent and HID ballasts), electrical distribution and branch circuits, and devices (breakers, fuses, and receptacles). Supervise, train, and organize work for student employees.
Perform power metering and manage the resulting data and reports (Sq D meters, Dent power data meters, and lighting control metering) for energy use evaluation, and system capacity and performance verification. Install, troubleshoot, and verify operation of lighting control systems, both stand alone and integrated into Building Automation Systems.
Design, plan, estimate costs for, and perform new electrical installations per customer and internal project requests. Support and coordinate electrical needs for special events (i.e. picnics, job fairs, concerts, etc.). Monitor, label, and properly dispose of universal & hazardous waste.

Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED
Eight years' experience in electrical distribution systems including low voltage control circuits, 110 through 480 volt single and three phase systems, and some experience with operating medium voltage systems (15,000 volt class).
License
City of Rochester Master Electricians License or equivalent.
Skills
Working knowledge in the use of electrical meters and test equipment, blueprint and schematic reading, National Electrical Code, and NFPA 70E.
Able to use power and hand tools. Able to work from step ladders up to 12 feet tall, scaffolds, and electric man-lifts up to 40 feet.
Able to distinguish colors of electrical wire insulation and determine wire sizes.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Consistently work safely following all relative OSHA, DEC and EPA standards, laws and regulations.
Must be experienced with using a computer to access the Work Order system, email, Microsoft word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and review electrical drawings in AutoCAD format.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Must be self-motivated and have ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Ability to take initiative, plan, prioritize, and execute a variety of repairs.
Ability to provide leadership, guidance and coordinate the work of other staff members.
Ability to manage relationships with customers and/or colleagues in an open, honest, direct, and respectful manner.
