Electrical engineering, electromagnetic and other specialized knowledge in the area of radio frequency transmission and reception to design and develop products for the Company. Responsible for the technical performance of Radio Frequency related products, for providing technical expertise to product development teams in the Radio Frequency area and for supporting the test methods required for the development of Radio Frequency related products. This job is located in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the hardware design of radio modules within common license-free bands and protocols. For example, WIFI, Bluetooth, Bluethooth Low Energy, 802.15.4, and LoraWAN.
Design supporting circuitry and peripherals such as; Micro Processor host and memory interfaces, serial communication interfaces, user interfaces, board-mounted power management, sensor integration, etc.
Develop Printed Circuit Board-level schematics and Bill of Materials.
Develop HW test plans contributing to test plans developed by other engineering disciplines.
Work as part of an engineering design team with other Radio Frequency engineers, software/firmware engineers, industrial designers, mechanical engineers, and project managers to develop new Radio Frequency related products.
Provide direction to Printed Circuit Board CAD Specialists following proper practices in Radio Frequency routing and EMC.
Foster designs and products through EMC and regulatory testing.
Participate in defining and developing production test solutions.
Design and develop embedded antennas using computer simulation and experimental techniques.
Fabricate and test embedded antenna designs for use in Laird products and other wireless devices.
Characterize antenna performance by conducting electrical tests such as Return Loss, near and far field gain measurements, and specific absorption rate (SAR) tests.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to a variety of small or large groups including formal design reviews.
Work within our defined development processes and established Quality Management System and Product Lifecycle Management tools & practices.

Familiar in the operation of VNAs, Signal Analyzers, Communication/Protocol Testers, DC Power Analyzers, & Power Meters
Familiar in the use of electrical and electromagnetic simulation tools like ADS, SPICE, HFSS, CST, & MATLAB
Experience in FCC Part 15 Regulations
Experience in SolidWorks and/or Altium Printed Circuit Board CAD is a plus
