OEC is accepting applications for the open position of Senior Auto Mechanic. This is a full-time, in-office position located in Norman, OK.
The Senior Auto Mechanic is responsible for carrying out a complete and effective program of preventative maintenance on all Cooperative vehicles and equipment and to provide safety for the operators. This includes directing work assignments and proper performance of such assignments. He/she is responsible for directing an effective training of others in the mechanic’s shop. This position works closely with all departments.
Responsibilities include:
Continuously evaluates practices and procedures of the equipment maintenance section in order to plan for more efficient methods and improvements in work activities and services rendered by the Cooperative.
Recommends changes in operational policies for activities that affect his/her responsibilities.
Ensures effective buying practices for parts, tools, and supplies for equipment maintenance and for the construction of special equipment.
Maintains service records, owner’s manuals, and parts lists on all Cooperative equipment.
Performs annual inspections of all Cooperative vehicles to conform to state law and performs regular routine maintenance of all Cooperative vehicles and arranges repair of all vehicles.
Directs the proper use and preservation of tools and equipment in the shop during his/her scheduled working hours.
Trains and observes others in the department to instill safe, efficient, performance of tasks and appropriate interaction with others.
Drives Cooperative vehicles to various locations for service and to deliver or receive parts/equipment.
Makes recommendations on tools and equipment needed for the shop.
Maintains the entire shop area which includes wash bay, welding area, and tire rooms.
Ideal candidates meet the following qualifications:
Associates' degree and 5 years' experience OR minimum of 5 years' experience
Education should be in automotive service technology or related field.
Experience should be of a progressively increasing responsibilities in the automotive service industry.
Certified DOT Inspector
Valid Oklahoma Class A CDL
Certifications or demonstrated experience in brakes, electrical, etc is preferred
Advanced knowledge of standard automotive operation, repair, and maintenance
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and basic computer knowledge
Demonstrated skill in: identifying complex problems and errors, evaluating options, and implementing solutions;
Ability to: visualize how something will look after it is moved around or rearranged; shift back and forth between tasks
Qualities of: analyzing information; being open to change and variety
