POSITION OVERVIEW St. Catherine’s School seeks a full-time Electrician to perform skilled electrical work to include troubleshooting the schools’ electrical issues and installing, maintaining, and repairing various electrical components. Additionally, the Electrician’s roles and responsibilities will primarily be directed to electrical work on the new Arts and Innovation Center systems and controls located in St. Catherine’s proud new state of the art center. The Electrician will also work closely with the Facilities Manager on the stabilization and correction of operating processes and adjustments of the systems. The Electrician’s role is vital to ensuring that electrical maintenance duties and responsibilities are professionally and accurately performed at the School. Supervisor: Facilities Manager Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Position Status: Hourly, non-exempt, full-time, 12 months Hours of Work: Standard work week. Weekends, Evenings and some Holidays may be required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Inspects, repairs and maintains the schools’ lighting systems, sight lighting, interior lighting, emergency backup lighting system/generators and exit signs. • Supervise and inspect the work of contract staff • Ensures the upkeep and functionality of the schools electrical systems to include replacing breakers and fuses as needed • Ability to replace receptacles and light switches as required • Troubleshoots various electrical issues as needed • Performs Light electrical installation as necessary • Ability to read blueprints and control schematics • Assists with troubleshooting HVAC and related equipment throughout the school • Actively participates as an operations team member in the performance of duties, and as directed by the facilities manager. • Flexibility, teamwork and a can-do attitude are essential to succeed in this position. • Maintains shop equipment; participates in event setups and assists with snow removal • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma or equivalent required • Current Electrician license • Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools and practices of electrical work, codes, policies and procedures. • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and required safety precautions • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with coworkers, supervisors and school administration/staff. • Ability to perform all required tasks of lifting, stooping, bending and handling of equipment to and from work sites. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to grasp, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
