Electrician - Emergency & Standby PowerAbout the OpportunityResponsibilities:Reporting to the Assistant Director - Life Safety, the Emergency & Standby Power Systems Electrician shall inspect, perform preventative maintenance and test all equipment and auxiliary components of emergency power systems, including, but not limited to: emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, electrical distribution equipment, associated control, charging and starting systems, load-banks, and battery-powered lighting equipment. Performs all installation, maintenance, testing and inspections in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, Massachusetts Electrical code (527 CMR 12.00) and/or established compliance requirements of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). May be required to perform other electrical duties or assist others in the Electrical and Mechanical department(s) as needed. Coordinate maintenance and repairs of prime movers as needed. Position will require working in a non-electrical capacity when necessary, as well as, but not limited to responding to overtime and emergency call-ins as required or directed to ensure proper plant operations.
Qualifications:Massachusetts Journeyman electrical license required. Minimum of five years experience in the electrical field, with a working knowledge of installation, operation, testing, trouble-shooting, maintenance and repair of emergency generators and related equipment. Experience with maintenance of Diesel and spark-ignited prime-movers a strong-point. Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend schematics, electrical plans, specifications, operating manuals and other written materials associated with this position. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and transport starting batteries and equipment in excess of 200 lbs. with others. Must be able to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs to access equipment. Must be able to work overtime as needed. Must be able to respond to emergency calls beyond the normal workday.
Valid Massachusetts driver's license with satisfactory driving record required. This position requires a background check.
