This role will develop, implement, and evaluate programs and staffing to ensure quality in all plants starting from vendor’s internal manufacturing process, receiving inspection of materials and parts, stages of custom mfg. in company’s plants, finished products; also meet the quality, integrity, and reliability standards set for achieving the organization’s standard of defects during manufacturing and in the field.
Note: this is a work on-site role based in Roanoke, VA. A relocation package is available.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Directs and oversees the quality control department and supervisory staff of each plant (4)and the
distribution warehouse center
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Leads hiring, on-boarding and retention, discipline and termination of employees in accordance
with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Evaluates production operations from a strategic level, develop inspection plans to ensure that
products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
• Work with the legacy engineering leaders to develop the quality controls.
• Collaborates with management and senior staff across production departments and roles to
draft acceptable quality standards.
• Develops and implements quality standard for incoming inspection, in process inspection,
testing and evaluation processes.
• Develop a hierarchy of front-line inspection, engineer, manager to assure the defect during
manufacturing process and field
• Specify all equipment, procure, maintain and train in the use of, all personnel
• Facilitates communication among production divisions and management.
• Assesses test results and approves recommended changes.
• Reviews quality control documentation in coordination with legacy engineering leaders such as
checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance.
• Conducts random inspections and quality control checks.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
• Leadership skill to lead a group of 50 managers and professionals
• Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production processes used in electrical
manufacturing in the industry.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have worked in manufacturing analyzing all processes that reach a collective high quality end result in the flow of manufacturing and precision craftsmanship.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Fifteen to 20 years of related experience required with at least ten years in quality control engineering
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Travel 30% including international
