Description of Work:
Perform installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, access control systems, building security systems, fire alarm systems and HVAC controls. Apprentice-level electrician will have appropriate supervision.
Interpret and use schematics and blueprint drawings to complete the installation and troubleshooting of electrical conduit systems, wiring and device termination in a commercial construction setting.
Ensure compliance with regulations including all applicable Building, Electrical and Fire Codes, University and departmental standards and guidelines.
May be required to be available after normal hours of operation and reached by phone 24/7.
Required to carry a personal cellphone for business use.
Position may be hired at a higher level to include foreman duties depending on operational needs and candidate qualifications.
Foreman level position includes training and overseeing others and confirmation of scope, schedule, and budget requirements on all work assignments and coordinate changes in a timely manner.
Depending of the level of assigned scope of work, projects may include leadership of large improvement projects with complex scopes, increased responsibilities and elevated budgets.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school or 1 year of equivalent experience. Apprentice-level must have at least one year of experience with electrical and low voltage system installation. Journeyman and Foreman levels must have 4+ years of experience. Ideal candidate will have experience with installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and low voltage system. The foreman level position includes experience in training and overseeing others and confirmation of scope, schedule, and budget requirements on all work assignments and coordinate changes in a timely manner. Ability to comply with University and departmental standards and guidelines is a must. Knowledge of building systems and construction including electrical systems and all codes and supporting systems that apply to each is required. Ability to be able to research, read, interpret, and work with project blueprints and specifications. Must have the ability to comprehend complex and technical information, have strong documentation skills, be well organized, and able to manage and make progress on multiple tasks at one time. Must be available 24/7 by cell phone to assist in campus emergencies and be available for regular rotations on the weekend and after-hours on-call schedule.
Foreman level positions must be able to supervise, motivate, develop, and coach both new and mid-career professionals in skilled and unskilled trades. Apprentice-State of Nebraska apprentice electrical license.Journeyman -State of Nebraska journeyman electrical license. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Associate's or equivalent education/experience is preferred. Completion of 2-year technical education on electrical, electronic or HVAC/R. Apprentice-level must have at least one year of experience with electrical and low voltage system installation. Journeyman and Foreman levels must have 4+ years of experience. Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and low voltage system.

Basic computer skills and the ability to perform computer tasks such as time entry and emailing. Advanced computer skills with experience in EMCS, access controls and/or fire alarm system interface programs. Familiarity with the departmental processes at UNLBSM is desired.
