Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain, repair, replace, fabricate, install, alter, construct and design facility components that require the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety.
2. Perform routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
3. Comply with NEC, State, and local building codes when installing electrical systems.
4. Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to lighting and lighting controls, motors and motor controls including VFDs, transfer switch equipment for emergency power, and transformers.
6. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
7. NC Electrical License or Journeyman card needed.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. Associate's degree.
2. Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of physical plant facilities.
3. Strong knowledge and experience in Electrical, Plumbing, and/or HVAC work preferred.
4. Proven track record in facilities.
5. Control circuit and PCL knowledge
6. NC Electrical License or Journeyman card needed.
7. Four years of facilities electrical experience preferred.
8. Availability to rotate on-call duties and work after hours when necessary.
9. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
10. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension).
11. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communications, however, excellent communication skills are preferred.
12. Computer literate. Knowledge and skill with Google Applications, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
13. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.
14. Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
