This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Central Electrical Services (TFHE), Construction & Maintenance Services (TFH), which is part of Transmission Field Services (TF), Transmission Services (T).
A successful candidate in the Electrician position will serve as an Electrician under the supervision of a Electrician Foreman. Work is performed in compliance with government regulations, BPA safety rules, and the BPA-CPTC Collective Agreement.
A successful candidate in this position will perform installation and adjustment (construction) of electrical equipment in Substations. The construction aspects of a High Voltage Electrician task include erection of new facilities or removal of old facilities. Equipment serviced may be electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or electronic.
As an Electrician you will:
- Install and adjust major electrical equipment such as power transformer and gas, oil, or air-insulated power circuit breakers; instrument and station service transformers, disconnect and circuit switches, protective devices, static capacitors, batteries and charges.
- Perform diagnostic testing to inspect parts and equipment.
- Perform work in shops on equipment components including bushings, motors, small power tools, etc. Assemble, install, and modify control and relay panels for substations.
- Assemble and erect steel racks and towers to support equipment.
- Install and change antennas, reflectors, transmitting or receiving devices, emergency power supplies, and other equipment located in microwave or radio stations.
- Takes clearances, hold orders and work permits in high voltage substations.
- Install Conduit and trenches, pull cable and terminate. Complete associated documentation required for the above listed tasks.
- Drive 20-25% of the time in all weather conditions.

Element 1: (SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT) for the Electrician BB-2810-00 position is: Ability to do the work of the position without normal supervision performing the majority of the High Voltage Electrician duties, including maintaining, installing, modifying, calibrating, repairing of electrical sub-stations, power generation/transmission/distribution equipment, and systems at 11,000 to 500,000 volts, and climbing, maintaining and repairing electrical sub-stations, and transformer banks. Failure to meet this screen out element will result in an ineligible rating.
