NEC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of a Journeyman Electrician. NEC is situated within the White Mountains of Arizona. It is a place of beautiful scenery, mild climate and has a small community atmosphere where you know your neighbors. Keep supervisor informed of the condition of all electrical apparatus assigned to him/her, noting any malfunctions or suspected malfunctions of apparatus.
Specify parts and equipment for purchasing as necessary.
Responsible for planning, scheduling, and preparing Journeyman Electrician work in a prompt, safe, economical, workmanlike and generally efficient manner.
Must maintain an accurate inventory of all materials on hand and perform salvage operations.
Responsible for conducting on-the-job training that will afford personnel the opportunity to increase their knowledge, work skill and value.
Maintain, repair and inspect power substation and line-mounted regulators, and relay equipment in the substation shop.
Keep up-to-date prints and diagrams of all equipment.
Responsible for proper use, care, handling and accounting of all materials, equipment, and vehicles assigned to the substation shop and to the accuracy of all reports as to the use of such materials, and the proper inventory of all materials.
Responsible for knowing and keeping currently informed with respect to policies, procedures, specifications, codes, technical data, or other similar information relating to his/her assigned duties and for clearly and accurately interpreting the same to other personnel in the substation shop.
May assist all other substation personnel as requested.
Duties performed regularly
Shop test, maintain, and repair step regulators, oil circuit reclosers, oil switches, single phase and three phase distribution transformers, and regulator panels in the substation shop.
Keep maintenance and data logs of all electrical apparatus assigned.
Paint apparatus, filter and process oil.
Responsible for the direction and supervision of assistants or personnel that may be assigned to him/her.
Perform housekeeping duties in the substation shop and will be responsible for the orderly maintenance of materials and equipment in storage areas.
Prepare accurate, concise, neat, and legible reports as required.
Accept call outs on an emergency basis after regular working hours.
Attend classes and training programs as required.
Perform other related duties as required
High School Education or equivalent
Must have completed a formal four (4) year Journeyman Electrician Apprenticeship program.
Must have been a Journeyman Electrician for at least five (5) years.
Required Special Skills
Be able to understand both oral and written instructions, AC/DC wiring diagrams, AC/DC schematic diagrams, blueprints and standard instruction and maintenance bulletins for the equipment related to his/her duties.
Be willing to study and broaden his/her knowledge and keep abreast of new techniques and developments in his/her related field.
Have the ability to work without direct supervision, as circumstances require.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable safety rules, regulations, and practices.
A willingness and ability to work with other NEC employees and departments and serve on various committees, if appointed to such.
A thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory.
The ability to read and understand plans, blueprints, and sketches of electrical apparatus.
Have thorough knowledge and understanding of National Electric Code and other pertinent codes.
Be fully qualified in Word Processing and Spreadsheets (Micro Soft Word, Excel, etc.).
Have or be able to obtain a valid Class “A” Arizona Commercial Driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
Live within a 30 mile radius of reporting office.
HOURS OF OPERATION:4/10s The cooperative is on a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday).
