Job Purposes::
To provide electrical engineering design & support for the Dayton Campus and satellite locations. Provide construction project coordination/management form concept through completion, start-up, occupancy, for capital construction projects for the University. Responsible for Electrical deferred maintenance and overall care and operation of the University electrical distribution systems.
Required Qualifications::
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. Two (2) to three (3) years of specific electrical engineering experience is required. Also, eight (8) or more years of experience in a position with increasing responsibility in facility planning, design or construction management with at least five (5) experience in a supervisory position. Must have strong leadership and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications::
Master's degree in a related field, experience with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services construction process and experience working with a mix of higher education facilities groups as well as private sector experience. Professional Engineering License.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
This position will report to the University Architect. Responsibilities include design, engineering and construction administration of all capital and local in-house/construction projects at all university facilities. This could include, but is not limited to: project planning and program development; cost estimating and scheduling; selection of architects or engineers; A/E contract negotiations; preparation of plans, specifications and bid documents; work with the University Architect to recommend construction; delivery methods to the AVP of FMS; bidding and selection of contractors; construction contract; administration of large and small capital projects. The incumbent will be expected to engage in: continuous process improvement methods, change agency, and customer service driven client services. 30%
Act as a liaison between the department and external groups including but not limited to the State Facilities Construction Commission, Board of Regents, Controlling Board, Attorney General's Office and local governments and internal constituencies such as academic colleges, other departments within the FMS unit, and other departments within the Division, and other campus stakeholders. Key member of the FMS unit leadership team, and works closely with the Facility AVP, University Architect and Environmental Health and Safety. 5%
Assist the Facilities AVP in routine review of the university's facilities and infrastructure in particular the deferred maintenance backlog of capital projects. Ensure the universities electrical infrastructure is functioning correctly and efficiently. Make recommendations concerning the necessity and priority of renewal and replacement of university infrastructure; review energy use and recommend projects to more efficiently utilize energy. Assist in the development and utilization of innovative contracting methodologies, such as performance contracting, to further the university's goals in deferred maintenance reduction and the utilization of new technologies to lower demand side energy use. 30%
Serve as the University's Electrical Engineer. The responsibilities of this job function are to ensure that the electrical infrastructure of the entire campus as well as all off site University owned facilities is operating correctly and efficiently. Supervise all yearly electrical testing programs as well as the yearly electrical maintenance shutdown. Required to be available 24/7 to report to campus to handle all electrical emergencies. In addition to this provide direct support to Facilities for all matters relating to the electrical distribution systems on campus as well as all fire alarm systems on campus. 30%

Exposed to dirt, odors, moisture/wetness, variable temperatures and weather conditions, loud equipment noise, air fumes, and electricity. Weekend work or holiday work may be required.
Work schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
