Stationary Engineer Plant Maintenance FT Days Position Summary:
Responsible for working independently without supervision, monitoring hospital and off-site critical systems and possess the ability to diagnosis equipment failures efficiently to provide a safe controlled environment of care for public, patients, medical staff, and associates. All responsibilities referenced below are maintained by the Power Plan Specialist 24-hours/day 7-days/week.
Follows department standard operating procedures (SOP) regarding responses to critical systems equipment failures.
Identifies the location and possesses competency in the use and resetting of fire pull-stations, fire alarm control panels, fire sprinkler isolation valves and hand-held fire extinguishers.
Knows all components of electrical distribution system and department SOP to respond to electrical power interruptions regarding the emergency generators and emergency electrical power system. Performs routine weekly and monthly preventative maintenance and testing of all emergency generators.
Maintains all components of the medical gas system and follows department SOP to response to equipment failures.
Monitors and maintains all power house equipment. Performs daily readings of various plant levels, pressures and temperatures and make adjustments as needed.
Performs daily chemical tests on boilers, softeners and condensate return water and adjust chemical feeds. Opens boilers annually for inspection and calibrates boiler fuel/air ratios.
Responds to calls or alarms regarding problems in regulating temperature. Monitors electrical usage and makes necessary changes.
Maintains all components of the HVAC systems and follows department SOP to respond to equipment failure regarding the HVAC and air quality control systems. Monitors chillers and performs preventative maintenance on all system components including cooling towers.
Removes and installs equipment as required including alignment of pumps and motors for service.
Maintains all isolation valves and follows department SOP to respond to equipment failure regarding the domestic water systems.
Maintains all component s of the steam generation system including boilers and follows department SOP to respond to equipment failure.
Manages critical situations in a fast paced multi-tasked environment successfully.
Uses the proper tool for the job. Arrives at the job with all tools and materials required to properly perform the task.
Works independently without supervision, monitors hospital and off-site critical systems and possesses the ability to diagnosis equipment failures efficiently.
Maintains inventory and maintains supplies consistently and accurately.
Ensures complete and accurate documentation of daily ledger.
Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, maintaining a 95% on-time completion rate.
Prioritizes work orders, i.e. life safety equipment, patient care etc., in order of criticality.
Ensures that management approves material or equipment purchases.
Receives and responds to maintenance service calls (after hours and weekends).
Documents utility systems equipment failures for Environment of Care Committee. Communicates
with insurance, State and County inspectors regarding air quality and Steam generation maintenance compliance.
Demonstrates willingness to train new associates.
THE STATIONARY ENGINEER PLANT MAINTENANCE FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.). Two (2) year trade technical training in an industrial maintenance. Preferred: Certificate of completion from an accredited Technical school specifically regarding steam generation.
Preferred: Any State certified Stationary Engineers license; Grade one Operator (CSJH) Treatment of municipal drinking water Preferred: ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Systems Maintenance. HVAC Certification; water treatment
Required: Three (3) yearsâ�� experience working in a journeyman trade capacity. Ability to interpret blue prints i.e. Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical. Preferred: Experience with NFPA-99 and NFPA-99C Medical Gas Systems, Water treatment of cooling towers and Water based HVAC systems.
Required: Work independently without supervision. Ability to successfully manage critical situations in a fast paced multi-tasked environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: Management skills and training; ability to coordinate the work of others.
Required: Regulatory and accreditation requirements, OSHA, JCAHO, and NFPA. Knowledge of blue prints i.e. Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical, NFPA-99 and NFPA-99C Medical Gas Systems, Water treatment of cooling towers and Water based HVAC systems.
Required: Computer skills, and awareness of current use of technology in facilities operations. Computer literate with MS-Outlook and Windows.
Required: Must be able to transport self to off-site facilities as required. Valid current Arizona Driverâ��s License. Must maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record with the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles. Ability to work holidays, rotating shifts, and weekends and remain on duty until properly relieved.
