Supervise, plan, evaluate and oversee all UNL irrigation design, operations, installation, maintenance, repair and renovation projects. Responsible for the effective stewardship of campus resources with an emphasis on planned activities. Responsible for fostering collaborative relationships with operational and academic departments and initiating efforts to integrate learning and collaborative opportunities into Irrigation Management operations and projects. Assist annual department budget, oversee, and approve expenditures, oversee preparation and submission of requisitions, addenda, and purchase orders. Provide continuous monitoring of performance standards and budget. Recommend necessary budget adjustments and improvements to optimize the use of allocated resources. Enforce policies, procedures, and work processes to ensure compliance with best practices, University policies, safety regulations and procedures, and applicable external guidance. Provide operational oversight with an emphasis on developing subordinate leaders in practices and performance standards. Evaluate performance of assigned staff and recommend compensation actions, promotions, and/or correction actions. Must be available 24/7 by personal cell phone to support daily operations and respond to campus emergencies.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in building trades; plumbing apprenticeship; or equivalent education/experience in progressively responsible landscape irrigation, construction, or maintenance positions required. Four years of experience in irrigation system design, construction and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience also required. Basic plumbing and electrical skills, and basic drafting skills essential. Ability to safely operate and maintain job related equipment and vehicles including hand tools, trenchers, backhoes, vibratory plows, underground boring units, pipe cutters, electrical testing equipment, wire and pipe locators and fault finders, etc. necessary. Must be able to secure and maintain a Nebraska Grade 6 water operator's license for back-flow certification issued by local codes and water facility. Will be on-call for emergencies, and snow/ice removal. Need the ability to be reached by cell phone 24/7.
Plumber's license preferred. Knowledge or experience of GIS and AutoCAD preferred.
