Overview Inspects purchased parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices: Examines items for defects in materials, work, and damage.
Utilizes a variety of instruments to complete visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of mechanical/electrical components or raw materials.
Follows procedures, drawing specifications, change orders (CO), and inspection forms to ensure product and raw material compliance.
Perform inspections as requested for Engineering and other departments. (First Articles and/or Courtesy inspections)
Assist with the development of applicable inspection fixtures and/or methodologies, procedures, checklist, and forms.
Documents results of all inspections in accordance with current procedures
Works with the Materials Review Board (MRB) on disposition of non-conforming material
Maintains quality records
Performs additional tasks requested by supervisor and manager.
Builds constructive and effective relationships throughout the organization and acts as a team player.
Strong Metrology background / understanding
Strong understanding of a Device History Record quality system and its requirements
Able to read and interpret drawings and procedures in order to inspect material and finished product
Knowledgeable in ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Knowledge of statistical methods
Knowledge of tool calibration and control systems
Basic computer skills
Language skills: ability to communicate well, both written and verbal, in English.
Mathematical skills: basic understanding of mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions) and metric system.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Ability to lift 35 pounds on an infrequent basis
High school degree or equivalent with some technical school education, Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) or 3 years equivalent quality technician training / experience.

CQT certified or equivalent
ASQC certification/experience - a plus
Experience in Lean manufacturing
