The Impact You'll Make in this Role
Our products are critical to the development of life saving therapies, treatments and vaccines. As a Plant Electrician/ Mechanic, you will make an impact by supporting the delivery on our operational goals that help us provide vital products to our biopharma customers.
Under supervision, a Plant Electrician / Mechanic performs a variety of tasks in the 3M Stafford Springs plant to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve mechanical equipment and components. These components may include:
Pneumatic and hydraulic components
Bearings, mounting systems, gearboxes and transmissions
Pumps, valves, pumping systems and minor piping repairs
Clutch, brakes, drive components, couplings and drive linkages
Alignment and vibration data
Vacuum, centrifugal, gear & hydraulic pumps
Variable speed power transmission systems and reciprocating piston equipment
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve systems and electric components. These activities may include:
Drive control components, I/O, PLC devices & logic
Working knowledge of controls programming
Network systems and communication
Burner and propane systems
Perform basic welding, machining and fabrication tasks using shop equipment, power tools and precision measurement instruments
Perform Preventive, Predictive, and Emergency Maintenance inclusive of:
Production equipment, lifting, hoisting and material handling equipment, safety devices and facility utilities following standard procedures as indicated on PM route sheets or in equipment manuals
Complete shop records and use reporting system following established procedures as required for effective performance of the job or operation of the department
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of mechanical, electrical or mechatronic work in a private, public, government or military environment
Ability & willingness to work
Holidays as needed
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Must be able to read, speak, and understand English and pass the required 3M test battery.
Possess or be in the last 6 months of pursuing a two-year technical degree or certificate program in an engineering or maintenance related field (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, Robotics & Automation, etc.)
Experience programming PLCs
Experience in a plant manufacturing environment
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Demonstrated history of good customer relations, communication skills, and customer satisfaction
Possess good documentation skills and can read and understand electrical / mechanical prints
Basic understanding of predictive/preventative maintenance and condition monitoring techniques
Travel: Not required
Relocation: Is not authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
