The Senior Electrician primary purpose is to perform maintenance and repair activities associated with electrical and elementary electronic equipment throughout the UTC campus. This includes maintenance and repair services for lighting, elevators (initial response), alarm systems, motors, building electrical systems, and high voltage electrical systems for the campus.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing maintenance and repair of aging and often obsolete equipment in providing services (including facility lighting, campus and security lighting, elevator systems, facility electrical, and campus high voltage system) to campus facilities.
Participating in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment. Typical electrical equipment includes AC and DC power supplies, circuit breakers, transformers, generators, lighting equipment, clock and bell systems, wiring in buildings and outdoor areas, and motors for pumps, fans, compressors, etc. Electrical repair also includes testing, adjusting, sequencing, synchronizing, and alignment.
Participating in the maintenance and coordination of campus elevator system, including coordination with and inspection of work by elevator maintenance contractor.
Performing work activities associated with troubleshooting electrical equipment and circuit problems and resolve these or obtain assistance from supervisor.
Performing tasks associated with re-lamping in buildings and parking areas, including changing bulbs and ballasts.
Installing and/ or modifying conduit and wire layouts for facility renovation; modification based on interpretation of diagrams and blueprints.
Assisting in other Facilities Department functions as required.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent; requires electrician's license or electrical certificate; at least one year of experience in a related field; experience in maintenance and repair type of work, with particular emphasis in the repair of all types of electrical equipment; able to work from ladders; and must have basic knowledge of equipment encountered in typical electrical maintenance, including HVAC equipment.
