The George Mason University, Facilities Management Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Electrician ll on the Fairfax, VA., campus.
Performs skilled journeyman-level electrical work required to install, maintain, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair, new and existing lighting, power, distribution, controls, and electrical systems.
Journey-level knowledge and skills in electrical principles, as well as the application of maintenance, repair and installation of electrical distribution systems, devices, and electrical-generation systems;
Strong demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and system diagrams;
Must be knowledgeable of building codes and national electrical codes;
Must be able to work inside and outside while climbing ladders and scaffolding on platforms at heights of 15-30 feet and occasionally higher, and safely and independently move and carry tools and equipment on a daily basis they may weigh anywhere from 25-75 pounds;
Valid Driver's License;
High school graduation or equivalent;
Significant demonstrated progressively more responsible electrical experience (4 years preferred).
Electrical Journey license;
Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level electrical training program;
Five years of experience with commercial electrical systems.
All uniforms and tools are furnished.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
