The International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), headquartered in the Dallas metropolitan city of Richardson, Texas, is seeking an energetic, experienced professional for the position of President/CEO. The IAEI is a not-for-profit professional organization devoted to the electrical industry with the mission of promoting the safe use of electricity. The association serves more than 10,000 members and is comprised of six sections (five in the United States and one in Canada) with chapters and divisions in various locations globally. The association is responsible for the publication of a major technical magazine and the development of publications as well as educational and training materials. In promoting electrical safety, the IAEI is involved in developing codes and standards, in certifying electrical inspectors, and in serving as a training leader for the electrical industry.
The President /CEO reports to the IAEI Board of Directors and is responsible for managing a staff of 15+ personnel.
The candidate will oversee the business and professional affairs of a multi-million-dollar membership organization, will promote the IAEI and its members and services, and will represent the IAEI nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate should have knowledge and understanding of the electrical industry equally balanced with skills in overall organizational management. This should include at least 5 years of demonstrated experience in administration of an organization, department, agency, or company. The candidate should have a sound understanding of contracts, human resource requirements, vision, mission, and values for business practices to lead an international membership-based association to continued success well into the future.
Experience in leadership for the management of professional publications and industry leading education programs, complimented by state-of-the-art training materials, along with proven experience in overseeing a professional team is highly desired.
A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, engineering, or equivalent is a plus. Experience in developing financial budgets, in implementing strategic plans, and in managing and reporting all fiscal matters is required.
The candidate should be results driven with a proven track record of success, possess excellent public speaking and communication skills, and have the ability to work with key stakeholder groups and partners, while using effective leadership skills for organizational financial management and performance. Experience with a member-type association board of directors would be an asset.
The candidate should be a leader in team building, a promoter of good customer service, and a tactical strategist who is experienced in working with diverse constituencies and agencies.
