Description of Work:
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
Interpret and use schematics and blueprint drawings to complete the installation and troubleshooting of electrical conduit systems, wiring and device termination in a commercial construction setting.
Ensure compliance with regulations including all applicable Building, Electrical and Fire Codes, University and departmental standards and guidelines.
May be required to be available after normal hours of operation and reached by phone 24/7.
Required to carry a personal cellphone for business use.
Position may be hired at a higher level to include foreman duties depending on operational needs and candidate qualifications.
Foreman level position includes training and overseeing others and confirmation of scope, schedule, and budget requirements on all work assignments and coordinate changes in a timely manner.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school diploma plus four (4) years of experience installing, maintaining and repairing electrical and low voltage systems. Must include some commercial experience; equivalent education/experience will be considered. Knowledge of building systems and construction including electrical systems and all codes and supporting systems that apply to each required. Ability to be able to research, read, interpret, and work with project blueprints and specifications. Must have the ability to comprehend complex and technical information, have strong documentation skills, be well organized, and able to manage and make progress on multiple tasks at one time.
Must be available 24/7 by cell phone to assist in campus emergencies and be available for regular rotations on the weekend and after-hours on-call schedule. Foreman level positions must be able to supervise, motivate, develop, and coach both new and mid-career professionals in skilled and unskilled trades.
State of Nebraska journey electrical license. Must have a valid driver's license and meet UNL driver eligibility standards.
Associate's degree and/or completion of 2-year technical education on electrical, electronic or HVAC/R. Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of access control systems, building security systems HVAC controls and/or fire alarm systems. Basic computer skills and the ability to perform computer tasks such as time entry and emailing. Advanced computer skills with experience in EMCS, access controls and/or fire alarm system interface programs. Familiarity with the departmental processes at UNLBSM.
