Operates and maintains steam generating, air-conditioning and distribution systems in compliance with Denver code.
Observes and adjusts equipment as necessary to maintain a comfortable environment.
Regulate equipment to maximize energy savings.
Test water and fuel, adjust chemical treatment, and perform preventive maintenance to keep readings at desired levels and extend life of equipment.
Record readings, work requests and phone inquiries to provide a constant record of operations.
Performs safety inspections of equipment to comply with City Codes and medical center regulations.
Keep Plant and equipment clean and serviceable.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Current Stationary Engineer Certificate issued by the City and County of Denver Building Inspection Division is preferred.
High School Diploma or GED
Four years experience high pressure boiler and mechanical refrigeration systems operation (preferred)
Ability to operate and repair steam-generating and air-conditioning systems and supporting equipment.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance and appropriate testing procedures.
Ability to assess and promptly respond to mechanical failures.
Ability to interact with medical center personnel and outside services and inspectors.
Repairs and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment in accordance with diagrams sketches, operation manuals, using hand power tools and precision measuring instruments.
Observes mechanical devices in operation and devices in operation and is alert to any problems,
Cleans, repairs and lubricates mechanical and electrical equipment and other components.
Maintains physical inventory of tools and other equipment associated with building maintenance.
Performs preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, project work and safety inspections as required to meet hospital and department goals and operational requirements.
Maintains oxygen, vacuum and medical gas distribution systems as directed by the Facilities Supervisor.
Procures bids and coordinates contractors for major repairs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Stationary Engineers License (optional) or CFC Certification.
A minimum of two years experience in general hospital maintenance or closely related field (preferred)
General knowledge of medical and building equipment repair and maintenance is required.
Good mechanical aptitude with supportive technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, steam and heat generation or general mechanical.
Understands basic electrical and plumbing piping systems.
Uses volt/ohms meters, pressure/vacuum gauges.
Reads and understands blueprints and schematics.
