We have a contemplative opening(s) for a HVDC Technician/Electrician to provide for the operation, installation, testing, checkout and maintenance of equipment at the Coal Creek Converter Station, located near Underwood, North Dakota.
This position will be responsible to:
Direct and/or assist in the installation and maintenance of the equipment at the convertor station such as instrumentation, control, protections, monitoring, networking, thyristor valves, water treatment, heating and cooling, AC and DC power systems, fire protection, security system, building equipment, structure and associated equipment.
Develop and update maintenance procedures along with maintaining equipment records in areas of responsibility.
Education and Experience Requirements: A two year technical degree/diploma in electrical/computer/electronics related courses. A minimum of three years of instrumentation or relaying related experience in the electric utility industry is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of AC and DC circuits including Ohm’s law.
Knowledge of power, current and voltage transformers.
Knowledge of high voltage electrical equipment.
Knowledge of AC power measurement, familiarity with inductance, capacitance, and power factor.
Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
Knowledge of data networks.
Knowledge of HVDC rectifier and inverter operation.
Knowledge of communication networks.
Skilled at effective communication that includes good interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication.
