About Lakehaven Water and Sewer DIstrict
Lakehaven Utility District is a special purpose district that has grown through the consolidation of small water cooperatives and districts. The District has served customers in South King County, Washington since the 1930’s and gains its authority to operate from Title 57 of the Revised Code of Washington. The District serves a population in excess of 100,000 and covers approximately thirty-four (34) square miles bordered by Pierce County on the south, Puget Sound on the west, the cities of Kent, Auburn, Pacific and Algona on the east, with the Highline Water District on the north.
The District provides water, sewer, and street light services to area residents. Twenty-four (24) wells and water from the Second Supply Project currently supply our water needs. In addition, the District operates two (2) wastewater treatment plants and thirty two (32) sewage pumping stations. Street lighting is provided in cooperation with Puget Sound Energy. While the District is responsible for the establishment of and billing for street lighting systems in its service area, it does not maintain the lighting equipment or operate any power plants.
