Summary The France-Merrick Performing Arts Center is seeking a highly-motivated, energetic, friendly, and extremely organized candidate to lead its facilities department. The FMPAC is home to the historic 2,200-seat Hippodrome Theatre and the M&T Bank Pavilion, which is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar transformation into a new 25,000 performance and function space. Our complex, which consists of 3 historic buildings (the Hippodrome, the Western National Bank building, & the Eutaw Savings Bank building) blended with ten-of-thousands of square feet of new construction, is one of the highlights of Baltimore and a Maryland treasure. We present and host roughly 200 events per year and have over 250,000 patrons through our doors each season. The Facilities Department is responsible for maintaining and pro-actively curating the FMPAC to ensure preserved for future generations of theatergoers. As a performing arts center, night and weekend work is required commensurate with the venue’s schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department and supervises two full-time employees. Schedules department so that a member of the Facilities team is present during all performances and events. • Maintains all licenses and permits in good standing with all municipal and state authorities and schedules inspections in a timely manner to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted business of the Performing Arts Center. • Responsible for performing or delegating minor repairs to the building including electrical, plumbing, painting, and wall repair. • Receives, reviews, approves, and submits all maintenance & repair related invoices in a timely manner. Works with vendors to resolve billing disputes. • Maintains relationships and service agreements with all R&M vendors including HVAC, utility, fire safety, janitorial, and suppliers. • Oversees all HVAC and lighting equipment to ensure the most efficient schedules and reduce waste. • Plans, acquires bids, and schedules repairs for large facility repairs. • Acts a liaison to fire marshal, building inspector, and other municipal contacts. • Oversees, schedules, coordinates, and inspects all large projects to ensure building and staff security and accountability for contractor/vendors. • Works closely with the Operations and Production departments to prepare various spaces for performances and events, including but not limited to moving chairs and tables and assisting caterers with equipment and electrical needs. • Hire, evaluate, appraise, and discipline department employees, as required. • Performs other work as requested by the Director of Operations, the Vice President, and/or the President.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: - At least 5 years of experience in Facilities/Building Management - Experience in managing employees and working closely with a large team - Ability to read, write, speak, and type in English and correspond effectively and professionally with management, vendors, and customers - Knowledge of basic commercial electrical and plumbing practices - Knowledge of HVAC building control systems (knowledge with Siemens/Desigo is a plus) - Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. - Experience in budget management - A good understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
