PPPL is seeking an electrical construction project engineer with the ability to develop electrical designs, champion designs through the review process and oversee projects through the installation phase, including field work.
Specifying and design of control circuits; low voltage AC and DC power distribution systems; conduit and cable tray layout and routing; preparation and review of construction drawings prior to release for construction; preparing job time and cost estimates; and preparing and participating in design reviews that involve electrical installations.
Preparing and reviewing construction packages and procedures; performing job reviews with installers, QA and other stakeholders; coordinating, overseeing and managing installation activities in the field on tight timescales; labeling of equipment, conduits and cabling; updating and reviewing as-built drawings.
A BS/BE degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of experience in the design and construction of electrical power systems and lighting (up to 480V) in a research or industrial setting.
OR, as an alternative to the BS/BE degree, the candidate must be a NJ state licensed electrician for at least 10 years with experience in the design and construction of electrical power systems and lighting in a research or industrial setting
A comprehensive knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) for sizing and specifying electrical equipment (breakers, panels, etc.), conductors and grounds, and related components
Familiarity with arc flash calculations, NFPA 70E and applicable electrical safety requirements in OSHA regulations
Proficiency with AUTOCAD to prepare and review drawings and configuration diagrams
