The Capital Projects and Construction (CP&C) unit is part of the division of Planning, Construction & Real Estate. CP&C oversees all renovation and construction projects on campus. The team works with campus clients on projects from the conception to completion, including permits and estimates, bidding, construction, and final occupancy. At CP&C we manage projects of all sizes from minor upgrades and renovations to large-scale construction projects. We maintain a comprehensive collection of building plans, construction records, campus maps, and construction-related studies and reports.
The Electrician position is a valuable part of our in-house construction team responsible for safe, code compliant execution of our electrical construction plans and activities. This position works with our construction crews and contractors to realize construction schedules and goals. The ideal candidate for this position is a reliable self-starter with proven record keeping skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of campus constituents. The ideal candidate can work effectively both independently and in a large team, is able to troubleshoot various electrical problems in the course of their work, and is committed to a safe working environment.
While working on an active and occupied campus, CP&C electricians communicate closely with PSU staff and students to minimize construction impact to classrooms, offices, and the campus community, and give timely notices to sites that will be impacted.
Must have an Oregon journeyman electrician's license. Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
Knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance and repair practices. Knowledge and application of safety practices while performing work. Knowledge of industry best practices in performing electrical work. Knowledge of high and low voltage applications in a commercial setting. Skill in using manual and power tools to perform work. Proven ability to perform work in a professional customer service manner and with consideration for the needs of the campus faculty, staff and students. Proven ability to perform work with, and collaborate with, the university's diverse community, general public visiting campus, and within PCRE teams. Proven ability to perform the physical requirements of the job as mentioned in Working Conditions above. Proven self motivated, construction professional, with the ability to remain focus and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Successful completion of a background check. Experience in installing and troubleshooting fire alarms. Experience servicing and maintaining generators. Institutional and commercial background. CPR, scissor lift, boom lift, forklift training.
