Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday
This is advanced technical, managerial, and supervisory work directing the activities of technical staff in the coordination of multiple disciplines performing the review of residential single-family detached and single-family attached (townhouse) and accessory structure construction plans for compliance with the State and County’s construction codes, related regulations, and Building Division’s policies and procedures. Responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate review of the majority share of permit applications and construction plans submitted to the Division for permit approval each year. Also responsible for supervising the Division’s master plan processing and permitting program. This position reports directly to the Deputy Building Official and works closely with the Building Director. All work is performed under the authority of the Building Director.
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of 10 years combined experience as an architect, engineer, contractor, inspector, or trades worker including five (5) years in a supervisory position and two (2) years in construction inspections or construction plans examining. Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field AND six (6) years combined experience as an architect, engineer, contractor, inspector, or trades worker including five (5) years in a supervisory position and two (2) years in construction inspections or construction plans examining.
Necessary Special Requirements: Plans Examiner certification in four (4) categories (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural) or One- and Two-Family Dwelling certification with either a Structural Plans Examiner or Structural Inspector certification per Florida Statute 468.
PREFERENCE FOR: Certification from the State of Florida as a Building Code Administrator (must specify on application), or national certifications from the International Code Council (ICC) as a Certified Building Official (CBO) or Master Code Professional (MCP) (must specify on application).
