Under the supervision of the Director of Real Estate & Operations, the Director of Facilities and Operations oversees the Lesley University physical pant operations including all buildings and grounds, utilities & energy management systems in order to provide an inclusive, safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for students, faculty and staff. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the contractor (UG2), which provides staff and sub-contractors to deliver contracted services to the University. The Director of Facilities and Operations is also responsible for ensuring the physical plant operation meets budgetary and strategic objectives. The management team of the facilities contractor (UG2) reports to the Director of Facilities and Operations.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
Develops and monitors regular facilities inspections for both maintenance and cleaning standards.
Develops and administers the UG2 Facilities Service contract and ensures compliance with terms and conditions of the contract.
Directs and collaborates with the UG2 Director of Physical Plant on a daily basis.
Interacts at a high level of effectiveness with various constituencies on and off campus as part of the oversight of the facilities operations, including all Cambridge building and zoning oversight officials and city and state ADA officials.
Ensures building operations comply with the local zoning laws and regulations.
Oversees the energy management operations of the University in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability in order to reduce energy consumption by 15% over a two-year period.
Responsible for implementing all ADA and other inclusive initiatives as directed.
Serves as the University's Environmental Safety Officer in the proper handling and disposal of all hazardous materials and ensures the University's compliance with all applicable OSHA standards.
Coordinates with outside experts.
Manages construction/renovation projects as assigned and prepares appropriate RFP's and contracts for construction projects.
At least 10 years of experience in an engineering, facilities or architectural environment with at least five (5) of those years working at an Assistant Director Level.
Demonstrated budgetary experience, including experience developing and overseeing multi-million-dollar capital and operating budgets.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a strong customer service-orientation.
Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other mechanical systems.
Knowledge and experience with procurement and contracting and, strong negotiation skills.
Demonstrated leadership, planning, and organizational skills including solid decision-making skills.
Must be authorized to work in the United States: if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering or related field such as architecture, project management, business management or construction management.
Experience working with health, safety, and environmental regulations and familiarity with State Building Code and the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board Rules and Regulations.
Experience with building and developing a Campus Planning Facilities Asset Conditions Assessment on an annual basis.
Experience overseeing a 3rd party facilities partner.
An advanced degree.
Salary Grade 30: salary range $110K to $125K
