Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform Advanced electrician work in the installation and maintenance of a variety of campus equipment including variable speed drives, transformers, emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, and elevator safety operations.
In addition, perform the building of primary and secondary busways, and installation of switchgear. Perform electrical work on renovation projects including renovations of classrooms and computer labs and other related areas on campus.
Perform troubleshooting in confined space areas (i.e. manholes, etc.) requiring compliance with strict OSHA safety procedures including gas testing and monitoring. Perform troubleshooting of electrical problems and repair or replace defective equipment. Troubleshoot, repair or replace electrical motors, and control circuits.
Perform installation and connection of electrical panels, motors, controls, switches and lighting as a part of campus construction and renovation projects. Install conduit which includes pulling wire through conduit and perform necessary splicing. Repair, alter, install and maintain electrical systems and components in compliance with instructions and quality workmanship. Perform routine maintenance on standby generators. Perform troubleshooting on different campus systems.
Prefer four (4) years experience in commercial/industrial work in the electrical trade.
Prefer knowledge of OSHA regulations, local and state electrical codes.
Prefer State of North Carolina licensed electrician.
