1. Tasks include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety. 2. Responsible for performing routine maintenance to ensure that HVAC motors and plumbing pumps continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate. 3. Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits. 4. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. 5. Perform general maintenance service work as required.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. Associate's degree in HVAC preferred. 2. Solid working knowledge in Commercial electrical, plumbing and HVAC work. 3. Proven track record in facilities maintenance and repair. 4. Current Universal Certification by the EPA 40 CFR part 82, Subpart F strongly preferred. 5. NC Electrical License or Journeyman card preferred. 6. Plumbing journeyman card a plus. 7. Experience in performing commercial electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance work. 8. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 9. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 10. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension). 11. Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications, however excellent communication skills are preferred. 12. Computer literate. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 13. Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
