Provides assistance with municipal utilities to include WWTP operations, stromwater system operational parameter development, and sanitary sewer collection system CMOM program development. This position operates under the direct supervision of the WWTP Manager and general supervision of the Associate Director of Utility Services.
30% - Essential - DAILY OPERATION OF WWTP AND CAMPUS WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM:
Conducts routine plant inspections and maintenance to ensure NPDES Permit release requirements are met. Obtains samples throughout the WWTP and Water System to ensure permit requirements and operating licensing requirements are met. Operates and monitors plant control systems and alarms with the development and implementation of new control strategies.
30% - Essential - MUNICIPAL STORMWATER SYSTEM PROGRAM DUTIES:
Assists with the mapping of storm sewer collection system. Assists with the documentation of the program for the annual report to SCDHEC. Assists with evaluation of the system data for the prioritization of needed repairs. Assists with the collection of data for the stormwater collection system model that is currently being generated.
20% - Essential - DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTION SYSTEMS PROGRAM DUTIES:
Assists with the collection of periodic process samples. Assists with the development of the collection system Capacity, Management, Operations & Maintenance (CMOM) program. Assists in the collection of data for the collection system model that is currently being generated.
10% - Essential - LAB DUTIES:
Obtains water and treatment water samples and perform control tests and laboratory calculations for residual chlorine, dissolved oxygen, pH, suspended solids, lead, copper, phosphorus, pH, temperature and turbidity. Conducts testing and inspections for Storm Water Compliance for Utility Services. Interprets operating system information and lab results to assist engineering and plant supervision in determining cause(s) of system problems or symptoms.
10% - Essential - WWTP MAINTENANCE DUTIES:
Performs routine maintenance, equipment service and lubrications and housekeeping. Rebuilds and replaces pumps, valves, motors and control instrumentation and sensors. Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to existing electronics, electrical control systems, and instrumentation serving WWTP equipment.
A high school diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.

Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
Preferred: 5 years of biological waste water treatment process plant municipal/stormwater system experience or 2 years of college technical course work in a related field with 2 years of experience.
A valid drivers license and good driving record is required. A South Carolina "B" level Biological Wastewater Operators License, A South Carolina "C" level Water Distribution Operators License, and Stormwater Inspectors Certification within 6 months of hire date.
