Potomac State College, part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking qualified candidates for a Facilities Manager . This 12-month position will p rovide leadership, supervision and technical direction in the Facilities and Services Department in addition to assisting with maintenance duties throughout campus.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Meet daily with Director of Facilities to coordinate work.
Review, assign and close work orders.
Supervise all work and staff to ensure jobs are completed in a timely manner, safely, correctly and with concern for visual appearance if projects are visible.
Meet with and conduct inspection of campus with Shirmer Inspector and WVU Environmental Health & Safety staff.
Meet with various contractors concerning work to be completed or progress of work in process.
Purchase materials/equipment needed for department.
Work with Director to review, manage, and oversee budgets, invoices and expenditures, orders, and other funding within the department.
Complete plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs and assist with painting of both interior and exterior of campus buildings.
Maintain grounds and snow removal equipment.
Be on call 24/7 for maintenance emergencies after hours, on weekends and holidays, and call out staff for emergencies as needed.
Coordinate, assign areas and assist with mowing and weed trimming or snow and ice removal of campus grounds.
Coordinate with college administration, faculty and staff for moving of furniture and equipment; Work with other Maintenance workers to complete set-up for functions, including erection of campus tent/canopies, moving of tables/chairs, and set-up of PA system and audio-visual equipment.
Assign work to student workers and persons completing community service.
Schedule appointments with service center for fleet vehicles.
Oversee and assist in unloading of freight trucks and delivery of items to proper location on campus.
Locate/tag college assets.
Provide coverage for nighttime/weekend events when needed.
Perform any other duties as requested by Director or PSC administrators.
Work Hours: 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Occasionally varied)
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
3-4 years' experience in:
Maintenance repairs & painting
Health and safety rules/regulations
Groundskeeping and equipment maintenance
Working with administrators/inspectors/contractors/vendors
3 years' experience in m anagement, leadership and supervision
Proficient in Microsoft Office products -- Outlook, Word, Excel and Calendar
Manage a diverse hourly workforce, including hiring, leading, and disciplining
Prioritize work requests and tasks
Read schematics and blueprints
Oversee and perform carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs
Operate power tools for each trade
Valid driver's license
Physical coordination and demands:
Standing, lifting up to 100 lbs., carrying, bending, walking, climbing
Ability to be on feet/legs and work in awkward positions for long periods of time
Must have good eye/hand coordination to perform maintenance and mechanical duties and be able to operate hand tools and equipment
