This position is in the Operations and Facilities Management Department (OFMD). This position located at the Medical School Campus.
The Facilities Maintenance Electrician Technician III position requires the Electrician to perform repairs and maintenance to electrical equipment such as motor control centers, lighting, sub stations, unit substations, all sizes of electric motors and all other equipment that supports a large academic and research facility.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lamp replacement work off of: Ladders, scaffolding, power lifts.
Reset automatic timers, lighting and flushometers.
Replace electric motors.
Battery back-up systems, specific gravity, load readings, battery maintenance, etc.
Switchgear and transformer cleaning and tightening of connections.
Install wiring devices: receptacles, switches, doorbells & buzzers, etc.
Correctly size and install junction and pull boxes.
Correctly size and bend conduit up to 2”, install prefab conduit up to 4”, correctly size and install metal and plastic raceway.
Correctly size and install lighting systems: Dimmers, timers, and occupancy sensors.
Troubleshoot & Repair:
Replace batteries: lead acid, lead calcium, antimony, etc.
Repair or replacement of non-high voltage wire or cable up to 500 mcm.
Replace transformer up to 75 kva, includes voltages of 120, 208, 277, 480.
Properly size and replace motors: wire.
Motor controllers: replace contacts, replace coil, auxiliary switches, control transformers, etc.
Proper use of test equipment to analyze and investigate conditions of electrical systems and apparatus.
Accurately determine cause of building’s main electrical service problem. Make proper: testing, fuse replacement, switching, and switch ties, switch bypassing, loading and/or unloading, impedance checks, coordinating with Power Plant.
Comply with all NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety Guidelines. Comply with all safety guidelines.
Completion of work orders.
Identify time and material spent on project.
Document preventive maintenance on equipment.
Document testing required by governmental agencies.
Document equipment-commissioning results.
Provide time and material cost estimate for projects.Accurately determine areas and systems affected by outages, provide documentation for scheduled outages.
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.� Position hours are generally day hours.
Offers made for this position are contingent upon the successful completion of all required pre-employment screens, including a criminal background check, hair sample drug screen, and verification of required professional licenses, registrations, or certifications.
At least 5 years working experience, and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with building staff and customers.
The individual must be a self-starter and require minimal supervision.
Able to maintain a high level of attention to accuracy and details with the ability to use discretion and good judgment.
Class E Missouri or Illinois Class D driver’s license.
Applicant Special Instructions:
Works inside and outside, in dusty and dirty places such as pits and equipment spaces where temperatures may exceed 100 degrees and equipment may be oily and greasy. Exposed to wet and cold conditions as well as noise and vibration from operation equipment.
Ability to work in morgues, gross anatomy and pathology laboratories where human or animal bodies or parts may be within view of the worker. Employee may be required to work in vicinity of labs containing biohazardous radioactive substances.
High School diploma with vocational training preferred.
Equivalent of 2-4 years related experience in skill trade functions with demonstrated ability to perform varied maintenance tasks.
Must have good customer service skills and the ability to communicate with diverse groups of people.
The hiring range for this position is $20.36 - $ 25.94 per hour.
